Rally Report – 13th May 2012

A huge “thank you” to everyone who supported us and contributed, with their dogs, to make this event another happy and relaxed fun day. Without you, we would not have a rally. It was lovely to see the people who had made long journeys from Scotland, Essex and Devon.
Weatherwise, although overcast for most of the day, we were lucky to survive without any downpours.
Our judge for the day was Amanda Jefferies who said that she thoroughly enjoyed herself spending time with the dogs, and their owners, which was much appreciated.
We were again sponsored by Cobbydog, Fish4Dogs, Harringtons and Naturediet, to whom we are very grateful.
Our normal band of merry men (and women), who we couldn’t function without, manned the stalls and made sure that the “ring” ran smoothly. Many thanks to everyone concerned.
Yet again, Anne’s cake stall, with even more varieties, proved as popular as ever. Her cupcakes were a sight to behold and tasted even better. Thank you, Anne, Bernard and Carolyn.
In spite of the recession and fewer dogs attending, we still made a profit of £600.00 on the day.

The draw for “Sammie” was made at the rally and Peter and Maureen from Lincoln were the winners. Their grandson, aged 3, has a new best friend as he is now the proud owner of “Sammie”. Apparently, he is taking great care of “Sammie” and making sure he stays white and clean. This little boy is one of the next generation of samoyed addicts. He also loves the real ones!!
The raffle made a profit of £367.00 for the rescue. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Pam Chant who hand-crafted “Sammie” and very generously donated him to rescue.

Rita Sanders very kindly donated seven silver photo frames in the memory of each of her Samoyeds to be given to the reserve (i.e. the second-placed dog) in each of the classes she thought most represented each of her dogs. Each frame is inscribed with her dog’s name.
The dogs who won these frames are:-
Best Rescue Exhibit (in memory of Tsar) – Ginny Roberts
Best Rescue Super Veteran (in memory of Siani) – Ginny Roberts
Best Rescue Veteran (in memory of Tia) – Dillon Talbot
Best Rescue Dog (in memory of Max) – Simba Tyrrell
Best Rescue Bitch (in memory of Zara) – Tara Mitchell
Judge’s Favourite (in memory of Misty) – Kai Balmer
Best Groomed (Rescue) (Rita’s present dog Faith) – Sheena Alexander
Hopefully, you will enjoy using the frame until the next rally with a picture of your own dog in it.
